Mana Pools and Wildlife

Whilst the entire Zimbabwean side of the lower Zambezi valley is a conservation area it is Mana Pools that has the most allure. Designated a world heritage site for natural beauty and abundance of wildlife, Mana Pools is easily accessible from Tiger Safaris, either by canoe or by road.

Although it has been difficult to track the numbers of wildlife in recent years, it is not uncommon to spot lion, leopard, buffalo and a variety of antelope species. You are virtually guaranteed to have sightings of elephant, baboons, hippo, impala and duiker and during the summer large herds of hippo can be seen grazing inland. This is not to mention the huge variety of bird life that call this area home. The winter season is often best for game viewing as the bush has dried and thinned out. Many species are often drawn to the river as waterholes in land dry up.
