Whilst Tiger Fish are the undisputed kings of the Zambezi, they are far from the only (or even the biggest) fish in the river. Of the 46 species in the river Vundu are clearly the largest while Chessa and Nkupi amongst the feistiest.

Vundu: Growing up to over 60kgs, they give a great fight, these monsters can easily take you over an hour to get in. The proffered bait for Vundu is blue soap.

Chessa and Nkupi: These supreme river fish grow to easily over 5kgs. They live in the faster currents of the river and have an extremely delicate bite. When you do manage to hook one be prepared for a great fight. Aided by the river currents these guys don't come in easily.

Bream and Tilapia: This is a range of different species of bream in the river often found in back pools or quiet water. Many say they are the best tasting fish in the river.

Bottlenose and Cornish Jack: The record for both these species is over 8kgs. Often found by tree stumps or rocks they move around in shoals. If you find a shoal you are in for a fun days fishing.
